ArtsFest FEATURES! Galleries, Jazzfest, Geneva Film Fest

Between now and September 17, we’ll be featuring the programs that make up ArtsFest.  This week’s features are the SCAC’s Pop-Up Galleries, the Downtown St. Charles Partnership’s Jazz Weekend, and the Geneva Film Festival’s “Best of the Festival” – showing at the Library and at Steel Beam Theatre.  Come Celebrate The Arts!



ArtsFest Juried Pop-Up Galleries

The St Charles Arts Council is pleased to announce the opening of the ArtsFest Juried Galleries in the Loft and Street Galleries in the Bourbon Street area of Pheasant Run Resort.  The Opening/Artist Reception is Friday, September 8 from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

The ArtsFest Galleries will be open from September 8th through the 30th. The gallery opens on the 8th with the Reception. After that, gallery hours vary, and will be posted on the web site.

The Best of the Geneva Film Festival
“The Best of the Geneva Film Festival” is coming to ArtsFest! You’ll see the best they’ve shown in animation, narrative shorts, and documentaries, in their entirety.

THREE SHOWINGS!  Saturday, Sept 9 — St. Charles Public Library, 1 S. 6th Ave.
6:00 p.m. — Opening Reception
Enter through the original Carnegie building doors on 5th Ave.  1st time these doors have been open since the library was remodeled in the ‘60s!

7:00–9:00 p.m. — film screening; Carnegie Room.  Reservation-only, please – at the Library or by phone 630-584-0076 x1 or online:  The Best of the Geneva Film Festival: REGISTER

Saturday, Sept 16 —  Steel Beam Theatre (2 screenings) – 111 West Main Street
1:00–2:30 p.m. and 3:30–5:00 p.m.
Steel Beam is another of the city’s multi-discipline art showcases.  Come early or stay late to enjoy the Steel Beam Theatre Art Gallery featuring the soft pastel painting of Terry Niccoli.  Come back to see SBT’s production of “100 Years of Broadway, the 1st Century of Musicals”.

GFF is starting the celebration of their 10th year of showing extraordinary independent films.  ArtsFest is delighted to welcome them to St. Charles!

Jazz Weekend
The Downtown St. Charles Partnership presents St. Charles Jazz Weekend – a four-day event that coordinates and promotes live jazz music in different downtown establishments. An array of downtown St. Charles venues will take part in each year’s event featuring numerous jazz groups, including Grammy award winning Saxophonist Frank Catalano.

Patrons can enjoy jazz music from lunch through the evening, with the opportunity to visit multiple venues, including the 1st Street Plaza on both Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
