Student Artist Pop-Up Gallery
The 6th Annual Student Pop-Up Art Gallery, featuring the work of Student Visual and Video Artists, will run from Saturday, April 21 through Saturday, May 5, opening with the Artist Reception on Friday, April 20 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Student Art Gallery will be one of the “stops” in the inaugural Fox River Arts Ramble, a One Day Tour of Art in the Valley, showcasing art from Aurora to Elgin. The SCAC is proud to include our Student Gallery in this major art event! Visit foxriverarts.com for more information about the Ramble.
Entries for the gallery can be in any style or medium of visual art, as well as video.
ONLY work by students currently in grades K – 16, including home-schooled students and students enrolled in extracurricular arts programs are eligible for the show.
Student Artists must submit their ORIGINAL ARTWORK electronically to ArtistLiaison@StCharlesArtsCouncil.org. There is NO FORM to fill out. Simply send an email with the following:
- An image* of each piece of ORIGINAL artwork submitted (in the case of video, an electronic location where the work can be viewed) along with the title, the dimensions, the medium, and (if for sale) the selling price.
- Artists may submit up to 2 pieces of their work. (This includes work entered by teacher and/or independent entries). Jurors may select 1, 2, or none of the pieces in the submission.
- All submitted work MUST include the artist’s name, physical address, phone number, and school attended. Students may attend any school, including out of state schools.
Please Note: We request no “mass entries” by teachers of the same lesson by multiple students, unless a few entries are notably different interpretations of the lesson. The SCAC will determine if entries meet this requirement.

ALL SUBMISSIONS ARE DUE BY end-of-day, Saturday, March 10, 2018. We will review all electronic submissions and contact artists with further information about the gallery by Saturday, March 17.

- Receipt of work – Sunday April 15 (1 p.m. to 3 p.m.) and Monday April 16 (4 p.m. to 6 p.m.). Artists will be contacted with information about the delivery location after jurying.
- Gallery will be open: For Artist Reception on Friday, April 20, then published days/times through Saturday, May 5.
- Artist Reception: Friday, April 20 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
- Pick-up of artwork: Saturday, May 5 (4 to 6 p.m.) and Monday, May 7 (4 to 6 p.m.)
- All artwork must be ready to hang/install. Information about hanging preparation for 2D work will be supplied by the SCAC.
- Sculpture pedestals/stands must be provided by the artist.
- Delivery and pick-up of the artwork will be the artist’s responsibility. Artists with work accepted in the show must drop-off and pick up their work on the published dates.

Depending upon location, the gallery may be staffed by volunteers, and/or patrolled by venue security. The artist contract (including a Display Waiver, if applicable) must be signed by the artist or their guardian. The contract will spell out the details for the venue. The St Charles Arts Council announces the Winter Pop-Up Art Gallery in The Loft and The Street Galleries at Pheasant Run Resort. Artists are invited to submit their work for jurying for this show. The Winter Galleries will be open from Saturday, November 18, 2017 through Saturday, January 20, 2018.
Entries for the gallery can be in any style or medium of visual art.
1. Jury fee for SCAC Artist Members is $25. Jury fee for non-Artist Members is $45.
2. When artwork is sold, the SCAC will take a 15% administrative fee.
(Jury Fee is nonrefundable). Fees can be mailed to: St Charles Arts Council, 2 E. Main St., St. Charles, IL 60174, or paid online through the web site. Click on the Yellow Donate button on any page. The SCAC is a 501c3 Public Charity.

SUBMISSION: All submissions must be electronic. There is no form to fill out. Please email the requested information and images of your submitted work to ArtistLiaison@StCharlesArtsCouncil.org.
Artists may submit up to 4 pieces for jurying. Jurors may select 1 or more pieces from each artist.

The gallery will be monitored by Pheasant Run security personnel and cameras, and Pheasant Run will handle any sales.
Artwork will be in the gallery on consignment.
The artist will receive 85% of the selling price of their work. Illinois sales tax will be collected, and is the responsibility of the artist to pay to the State.
All artwork must be ready to hang/install. Sculpture pedestals/stands must be provided by the artist. All artwork must be for sale. Delivery and pick-up of the artwork will be the artist’s responsibility.
There is a comprehensive promotional plan for the Galleries, largely utilizing the SCAC’s and Pheasant Run’s social media platforms.

Another Pop Up Arts gallery will run from Saturday, November 5 through Sunday November 27, as part of the 2nd Annual Celebrating Veterans Through Art event taking place in St. Charles, IL from November 5 – 12, 2016. The Artist Reception will be Saturday, November 5.
The Theme of the gallery is “From Sea to Shining Sea”. Artists should submit work that is of America and Americans – celebrating the depth and breadth of our country. Entries for the gallery can be in any style or medium of visual art, or video, whose subject is people, places or things anywhere in America.
Pop Up Arts is a very successful initiative of the St Charles Arts Council. This gallery will be our 19th Pop Up. 100% of the selling price of the work goes to the artist. The galleries are actively promoted in social and print media, and the artwork is insured.

Marquee Youth Stage (MyStage) is a 501(c)3 children’s theatre and performing arts organization dedicated to broadening the reach and impact of theatre so that students of all abilities and skills may benefit. Our goal is to increase the opportunities for theater in order to build confidence, enrich minds, ignite creativity, and ultimately empower youth with the skills and knowledge of how theater can serve and benefit the community at large.

STUDENT ARTISTS… Photographer needed! [Posted: 04/29/2016]
A local woman who is running for political office needs a picture for her web site.
The requirements for the photo are:
1. MUST BE… An image that reflects the beauty of the Fox River Valley – it can include the Fox River, bike path, or…?
2. NOTE IT… The photograph needs to be a landscape image, so “horizontal.”
3. NIX IT…No close ups of a building, or a photograph that reflects a single community.
4. WRITE IT… Permission from the photographer for the photograph to appear on the website’s splash page.
Photo credit will be provided on the requesters website. Also, a small stipend or gift certificate will be awarded to the photographer.
